ELLSWORTH – Christopher H. Owen, 59, died the way he wanted; at home, Jan. 11, 2008, in the words of Warren Zevon “My Rides Here.” He was born Nov. 18, 1948, in Augusta, the son of the late Thomas H. and Virginia (Brown) Owen. Chris graduated from Warwick High School and the University of Rhode Island, and served in the Navy. He was a member of the Ellsworth Rotary, a founding member of Spectacle Pond Yacht Club and a former member of the Jaycee’s of East Corinth. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nancy (Cadman) Owen; a sister, Marcia and her husband, Mike Blasko, of Saco; a brother, Denny and his wife, Elaine Owen, of Belmont; a daughter, Patti and her husband, Glen Chapman, of Lincolnville; a son, Ed and his wife, Kate Owen, of Sears-mont; and four grandchildren, Jarica Weed, Sabian Miller, Ashtyn Owen and Jessica Roy. Visiting hours will be held 4 p.m. with a memorial service 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church, Ellsworth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center, High Street, Ellsworth. Arrangements are under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
