EAST MACHIAS – Norma Jean “Sam” Bricker, 71, died March 3, 2004, at an Eastport healthcare facility after a long battle with diabetes. She was born Feb. 17, 1933, at Peoria, Ill., the daughter of Joseph and Edna Hybarger. She was the wife of the late Willis G. Bricker, a career Navy veteran. Locally she had been employed at the Cutler Navy Base and the Maine Wild Blueberry Co. She was a 21-year member of the Ephraim N. Johnson Post No. 9 Auxiliary Unit. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband, “Bill” Bricker; two grandchildren, Ryan Hawkins and William Joseph Bricker Jr. She is survived by four children, Theresa Longstaff and husband, Bill, of East Machias, Wiliam Bricker and friend, Andrea Schooner, of Machias, Patty Hatt and husband, Bernard, of Machias, Donna Bricker and companion, Dwayne Roberts, of Machias; eight grandchildren, Patricia, Jonathan, Andrew, William, Amanda, Robert, Ashley, and Joey; two great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Stephanie; one brother, Roger Hybarger of Peoria, Ill.; a niece, Joy Andrews of Washington State; and many friends. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 12-1 p.m. Saturday, March 6, when a funeral service will be held at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Machias, with Pastor Gary Look officiating.
