LEE and WINTERPORT Norma L. West, 85, passed away quietly March 28, 2008, at a Lincoln health care facility. She was born March 19, 1923, in Lee, the daughter of Wallace and Amy (Gifford) Staples. Norma graduated from Lee Academy. After graduation she served her country in the U.S. Army during World War II. She will be remembered by her family as a kind, quiet, loving person. Norma was a true Red Sox fan for more than 30 years. She was a member of Ellingswood Corner Methodist Church, Winterport and baked many pies and biscuits for church suppers. She is survived by her sons, Robert West and wife, Marie, of Winterport and Wayne West and wife, Merilee, of Lee; three brothers, Bernard Staples and wife, Gloria, of Lee, Avon Staples and wife, Marion, of Grand Lake Stream and Roger Staples and wife, Joyce, of Smithfield; four grandchildren, Richard, Adam, Shannon and Joseph West; and two great-grandchildren, Madysen and Emma. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Colonial Acres and Care Ridge for all the support, love and kindness given to Norma through the years. A memorial graveside service is planned for early summer in Lee for immediate family and friends.
