NORMAN D. KELLEY SOUTH EASTON, Mass. and NEW YORK CITY – Norman D. Kelley, 95, a former character tenor of the Metropolitan Opera, died Sept. 4, 2006, at Coyne Health Care Center, Rockland, Mass., after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born Aug. 27, 1911, in Eddington, a son of the late John and Janet Elizabeth (Shields) Kelley. Mr. Kelley was known for his work and extraordinary talent as a character tenor in opera, most notably in the Metropolitan Opera, New York City. He is survived by many nieces and nephews of several generations and extended family. He was brother of the late Thelma Willette Mac-Kenzie, Viola Royal, and Howard and Philip Kelley. Calling hours will be 4-6 p.m. Saturday at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, Mass.
