YARMOUTH – Norman H. Lane, 97, died Dec. 2, 2004, formerly of Haddonfield, N.J., husband of the late Gertrude Bell Lane, father of Stanton N. Lane of Fairport, N.Y. He is also survived by former daughter-in-law, Margaret P. Lane of Chelmsford, Mass.; one granddaughter, Andrea Lane of Fairport, N.Y.; one grandson, Jeffrey P. Lane; and two great-grandsons, Benjamin and Zachary Lane of Rutland, Vt.; his brother, Stanley C. Lane, 101; and niece, Katherine L. Dodge of Surry. Mr. Lane graduated from Boston University. He held management positions at GM in the Overseas Division in New York City, with an engineering function in Detroit and at the Pontiac Motor Division in Philadelphia, Pa. He was a member of the GM Glee Club in New York City. He also participated in Toastmasters. Upon retirement, he moved to Cape Cod where he lived for the past 35 years. He was a congenial, well regarded gentleman and a popular resident of Mayflower Place in West Yarmouth. Maine was in his blood. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at Mayflower Place in West Yarmouth, Mass. Calling hours are omitted. Private interment will take place at Melrose Cemetery, Brockton, Mass.
