VAN BUREN and FORT KENT – Norman N. Pelletier, 88, died peacefully Jan. 18, 2006, at a Van Buren healthcare facility. He was born March 4, 1917, in Allagash, the son of Naizara and Louise (Thibodeau) Pelletier. He attended Allagash schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served from 1942-1945. He helped build St. Paul’s Catholic Church, in Allagash, where he served as the first alter boy. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and a registered Maine guide. He was a life long member of Legion Post No. 147 in Madawaska. He worked as a lineman for Cahon Surveying, until his retirement. He was adored by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed. He is survived by his wife, Juliette (McPherson) Pelletier, of St. Francis; three daughters and their spouses, Pamela and her husband, Dr. Harry Peddie, of Orono, Vella Dawn and her husband, Gilbert Dee, of Limestone, Shelly Maki and her friend, Richard Dee; three sons and their spouses, Darrel and his wife, Gene Pelletier, of Van Buren, John and his wife, Sandy Pelletier, of Norrigdewalk, Frank and his wife, Cheryl Pelletier, of Clinton; 10 grandchildren, Peggy, Keith, Kelly, July-J.J., Audrey, Chris, Travis, Bethany, Riley and John; five great-grandchildren, Zach, Shawna, Dominique, Logan and Keith Sr.; and one sister, Gladys O’Leary. In addition to both his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. Saturday, until time of service at the Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. Funeral services will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, with full military honors, at the funeral home. Spring burial will be held May 12, in St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Allagash.
