RED BEACH and ST. GEORGE, N.B. – Norman Willard Lane, 73, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, at a Calais hospital. Norman was born Sept. 1, 1932, in Calais, the son of the late F. Willard and E. Pauline (Eye) Lane. He was employed for many years as a mechanic for the City of Calais, Dicenzo’s Construction, and Georgia Pacific. Later, he worked as an electrician for International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1253. Norman enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding steam trains, gardening, lobstering, and spending time in the wood lots. He was predeceased by his first wife of 37 years, Patricia (Arsenault) Lane. Surviving are his wife, Nancy (Taylor) Lane; four children, Linda Adams and husband, R. Steven, of Elliot, Norma Higgins and husband, Peter, of Calais, Pamela Betts of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Willard Lane and wife, Amanda, of Red Beach; three sisters, Marion Carlow of Presque Isle, Joyce Earle and husband, Jim, of Red Beach, and Lillian Johnston and husband, Glenn, of Elizabethtown, Ky.; a sister-in-law, Louise Wight and husband, Howard, of Norwich, Conn.; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Bob Hinton officiating.
