FALMOUTH – Norris L. Cianchette, 83, of Blueberry Lane, Falmouth, died Tuesday evening, May 10, 2005, at a Portland hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Pittsfield a son of Ralph and Edna Stein Cianchette, where he attended schools graduating from Maine Central Institute, Class of 1940. He served in the U.S. Army for three years in North Africa and Italy during World War II. He married the former Marilyn Bunker in 1947. They resided in Pittsfield and Caribou for several years before moving to Falmouth. In 1969, he purchased Maine Line Fence Co., which he operated until his retirement in 1991. He was past president of the Pittsfield Jaycees, active member of Caribou Kiwanis Club, Falmouth Lions Club, MCI Alumni Association, Meridan Lodge of Masons, AF & AM of Pittsfield, Tri-county Shrine, Kora Motor Corps, a long time member of Maine Good Roads Association, and the Associated General Contractors. Norris and his wife wintered in Florida for 30 years at Key Colony Beach and spent their summers in Maine. He carved an impressive collection of wooden birds that he enjoyed working on daily. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, golf, and playing cards. He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers; Carl, Claire, Alton “Chuck”, and his sister, Marilyn. In addition to his wife of 58 years of Falmouth, he leaves two sons, Scott and his wife, Donna Cianchette, of Hermon, Junior “Rocky” and his wife, Cherrie Cianchette, of Falmouth; a daughter, Candace and her husband, Joseph “Joe” Loring, of Cumberland; two brothers, Ival “Bud” and his wife, Priscilla Cianchette, of Falmouth, Kenneth and his wife, Lucette Cianchette, of North Yarmouth; seven grandchildren, Jason and his wife, Carrie Cianchette, Mike and his wife, Lisa Cianchette, Linda, Erin and Ryan Cianchette, Patrick and Thomas Loring, and three great-grandchildren, Shaymus, Kaleb, and Rhiannan Cianchette. A Masonic service and celebration of Life will be held 3 p.m. Saturday May 14, 2005, at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St, Portland. Interment will be private at a later date in Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
