ELLSWORTH – Olive Davis (Austin) Fletcher, died March 13, 2007, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Ellsworth, after a short illness. She was born Dec. 29, 1911, in Ellsworth, the daughter of Harry C. and Henrietta L. (Davis) Austin. She was a 1929 graduate of Ellsworth High School and Gardiner General Hospital School of Nursing. She practiced as a registered nurse at Hurley Hospital, Ellsworth, and also did private duty nursing. Olive was a life member of Irene Chapter No. 97 O.E.S. Olive was married Sept. 27, 1941, to Lawrence Fletcher, who predeceased her, in 1998 after 56 years of marriage. Olive is survived by two daughters, JoAnn Fletcher of Ellsworth, along with Elaine and her husband, Allen Fernald, of Somesville; and a son, Lewis Fletcher of Bangor. There are also several, surviving cousins, nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by an infant daughter, in 1949; her sister, Leatrice L. (Austin) Foss, as well as her brothers, Edwin D., H. Dana, Burton H., Whitney, Henry E., and George T. Austin. At Olive’s request, there will be no visiting hours or funeral. A spring graveside service will be announced.
