SHERMAN and PATTEN Ora J. McNally, 87, died July 6, 2008, in Houlton. He was born Oct. 18, 1921, in Stacyville, the son of Robert and Olive (Connor) McNally. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II in the South Pacific. Ora was a member of the Sherman area VFW No. 7529 and Knights of Columbus Bishop Benedict Council of Benedicta. He was a self-employed pulp truck driver for many years. After retirement he enjoyed working at the Sherman transfer station. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Barbara (McAvoy) McNally of Patten; three daughters, Linda Guernsey of Bangor, Brenda Brockman and her husband, Thomas, of Spanish Fort, Ala., and Lynn Tyler and her husband, Henry, of Hampden; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wendall McNally and his wife, Christine, of Brewer and Bruce McNally and his wife, Sandra, of Mount Chase; one sister, Sandra Noonan and her husband, Robert, of Patten; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, three brothers; and one son-in-law, Edward. The family would like to thank Progressive Care Unit and all of Houlton Regional Hospital for all their care and compassion. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Benedicta, where a Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday with Father Dave Raymond, celebrant. Interment will be at Stacyville Cemetery.
