BEALS – Orletta “Nana” G. (Look) Alley, 80, went to sleep in Christ, Dec. 8, 2005, after a brief illness at a Machias hospital. She was born Sept. 9, 1925, in Beals, the daughter of the late Enos and Lucy (Crowley) Look. Nana was a faithful Christian and a generous, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Nana spent many enjoyable girlhood summers at the Great Wass Life Saving Station. She was blessed with an especially close relationship with her mother and her family was her greatest joy in life. Nana was a lifelong resident of her beloved Beals Island with the exception of a brief period when she and Millard lived in Prospect Harbor. She was a graduate of Beals High School. Nana was a lifetime member of the Beals Advent Christian Church where she served as assistant clerk, clerk, and secretary of the Sunday school for many decades. Nana was a member of the Beals Historical Society and the Beals Alumni Association. Orletta was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Millard L. Alley in 1991. She is survived by her only daughter, Genesta (Alley) Beal and husband, Willis, of Beals; three granddaughters, Glenda Beal and husband, Travis, of Beals, Glenace Breton and husband, Jeff, of Gorham and Elizabeth Jardine and husband, David, of Orrington; two very special great-grandsons, Kelton Beal and Kasden Beal, of Beals; special cousin and friend, Lottie (Alley) Beal and many other cousins. Visiting hours will take place 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at Beals Advent Christian Church, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, officiated by the Rev. George Woodward and Pastor Phil Barton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beals Advent Christian Church, Care Of Leona Libby, Treasurer, P.O. Box 117, Beals, ME 04611. Arrangements are under the care of Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Machias.
