JONESPORT – Oscar William Look Jr., 88, husband of Dorothy (Fish) Look, passed on to be with the Lord and his daughter, Debbie, April 4, 2007. Oscar was born Dec. 18, 1918, in Jonesport, in the house he lived most of his life. He was the son of the late Capt. Oscar William Look Sr. and Frances (Joy) Look. Oscar grew up in Jonesport, the town he loved dearly. He graduated from Jonesport High School in 1939. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1940, before the onset of World War II, serving first in the M.P.s and then in the 785th Tank Battalion. He was honorably discharged five years later. Oscar came back to Jonesport and joined his brother, Bert, in the family business. On Dec. 27, 1947, he married Dorothy Fish of Jonesboro. An independent man, he started his own business in 1958, O.W. Look and Son. Oscar was also a blueberry grower and many town children, his own included, raked blueberries for him every summer. For a number of years he was in business with Lewis Kirby and they owned a couple of lobster pounds. Oscar was a selectman in Jonesport for 17 years. He was also a member of the planning board and took great pride in organizing the early Fourth of July parades in Jonesport. Oscar was a member of the American Legion and VFW. In the early 1960s, Oscar became a pilot and took pride in his Cessna 150. He was predeceased by daughter, Deborah Jane Crowley; and a brother, Bert S. Look. Oscar is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Dorothy (Fish) Look; his children, Oscar Look III and wife, Mary Lou, of Beals, Katharine F. Look and companion, Richard Deegan, Dorinda J. Johnson and husband, Raymond, of Aloha, Ore., Edward L. Look and wife, Susan, of Addison, Patricia A. Look of Bangor and Charles B. Look and fianc?e, Laura Schneider, of Harrington; special family friend, Lisa Look, as well as many others; grandchildren, Oscar Look IV of Island Falls, Mass., Nicolas L. Look of Beals, Kendra Look of Orono, Suzanne Thomas of Lima, Ohio, Julie Jackson and husband, Brian, of Columbus, Ohio, Jennifer L. Thomas, of Columbus, Ohio, Christopher Crowley and wife, Cristy, of Limington, Merri Verbourt and husband, Peter, of Oregon, Raymond Oscar Johnson of Aloha, Ore., Christine Hachey and husband, Jeff, of Addison, Timothy Lunn and wife, Christine, of Jonesport, William N. Alley and wife, Michelle, of Bangor, Joseph C. Look and Derek J. Look of Harrington; great-grandchildren, Gage and Dylan Alley, Anthony, Brooke and Joshua Hachey, Brian, Abigail and Emily Lunn and Gabrielle Arnold; first cousin, Alice Parry and husband, Maldwyn, of Florida; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will take place 5-8 p.m., Monday, April 9, at Sawyer Memorial Congregational Church, Jonesport, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, officiated by Pastor George Woodward.
