OAKFIELD – Ottis “Ozzie” Nelson, 69, was called to his heavenly home, Aug. 8, 2006, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 23, 1937, in Whitneyville, Mass. He was raised by special parents, Scott and Tessa Nevers. Ozzie drove truck since he was old enough to see over the steering wheel. He put 100,000 miles a year traveling over the country. He made many friends far and wide. He loved the nurses at Eastern Maine Medical Center dialysis and his fellow dialysis patients. Ozzie was very proud of his grandchildren, who were a bright light in his life. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Darlene (Burpee) Nelson of Oakfield; two sons, Kevin and his wife, Pam Nelson and Danny and his wife, Heidi Nelson, of Oakfield; two daughters, Patricia and her husband, Philip Corneil, of Smyrna and Tina and her husband, Darrell Malone Jr. of Oakfield; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four special brother-in-laws, Perry Burpee of Smyrna, Dennis Burpee, Perley Steven Burpee of Oakfield and Rick Burpee of Hermon; mother-in-law, Rita J. Burpee; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call 1-2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls with funeral services to be held 2 p.m. with the Rev.
