ASHLAND – Paige Marie Long, 16, died tragically April 17, 2006, as a result of a motor vehicle accident on Route 11 in Ashland, which also claimed the lives of her three sisters, Mindy Long, Victoria Basso, and Trinity Basso. She was born May 28, 1989, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Thomas and Deanne (Saucier) Long. Admired and loved by all who met her and knew her, Paige was an ambitious young lady who gave her all in whatever she pursued. Though she was technically just an 11th grader, Paige was completing all of her high school requirements this year and was set to graduate with the senior class from Ashland Community High School this June. She was currently employed by the Ashland One-Stop. Paige is survived by her mother and stepfather, Deanne and Joseph Basso, III of Ashland; one brother, Thomas Long Jr. of Ashland; maternal grandparents, Hadley and Ella Saucier of Masardis; paternal grandparents, Clarence and Geraldine Long of Ashland; paternal stepgrandparents, Patricia and Bob Pidgeon; paternal great-stepgrandmother, Elsie Basso; Aunt Brittany, Aunt Reneake, Uncle Hadley, Aunt Tracy and “Unk” Kevin Baker Sr., Aunt Cindy and Uncle Hazen Walker, Aunt Vikki and Uncle Brad Ezzell, Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Bob Stevens, Aunt Jeannie and Uncle Gene Ouellet, Uncle Danny and Aunt Jeannie Long, Aunt Wanda and Uncle Larry Long, Aunt Nancy and Uncle Ferdie Samson, and all their families; and many other relatives and friends, too numerous to mention. In addition to her many friends, her teachers, and relatives in the greater Ashland community, Paige will be sadly missed by her special friend, Trevor Cobb of Ashland. She was predeceased by her father, Thomas Long Sr. in January 1999 and by her step-grandfather, Joseph Basso Jr. in 2002. Relatives and friends may call 10 a.m. Saturday until time of service at the Ashland Community High School. A funeral service will be held for Paige and her sisters 2 p.m. Saturday at the high school, with the Rev. Donald Morton Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Ashland Municipal Cemetery. Those who wish may contribute in her memory to The 4 Sisters Fund, in care of Brenda Clark, P.O. Box 290, Ashland, ME 04732. Arrangements are a service of Stimson-Ouellette Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St., Ashland.
