ESTES PARK, Colo. – Pat Cushing, 73, of Estes Park, Colo., died at the Estes Park Medical Center Nov. 28, 2003. Patricia Nash was born Sept. 19, 1930, in Bangor, daughter of Austin W. and Carolyn (Bartlett) Nash. Pat graduated from Bangor High School and the University of Maine, Phi Beta Kappa at Orono with a bachelor’s of arts degree in medical technology. She married Raymond E. Cushing on Aug. 10, 1952, in Bangor. She was a Microbiologist for the Food and Drug Administration Hospital in Washington D.C., and The Center for Antibiotic Certification. She was later a civilian employee at U.S. Army Foreign Intelligence Technology Center. She later returned to the F. D. A. Bureau of Veterinary Medicine as a Consumer Safety Officer for Antibiotic Drug Applications. In retirement she worked a while at the Estes Park Medical Center lab, later she became active in the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, working up to President of the Colorado Federation of Chapters of the 7,000 member State Federation. She chaired two State Conventions and a Regional Conference at the Estes Park Convention Center in 1993, 1995 and 1999. She has recieved several service awards and the NARFE Colorado Hall of Fame Award. She was a volunteer at the Estes Park Library and received the volunteer of the year award in 2002 at the convention center banquet. She was editor of the Colorado Federation Color Newsletter and had a Honors award from Retired Senior Volunteers. She was a member of the Estes Park Internet Computer Users Group. She is survived by her husband, Ray, of Estes Park; and several cousins. She was predeceased in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at the Community Church of the Rockies, 1700 Brodie Ave., Estes Park, Colo., with Rev. Frank Johnke officiating.
