GEORGETOWN – Patricia V. Morgan, 91, wife of Joseph P. Morgan, died Thursday, May 5, 2005, in Rockland. She was born July 11, 1913, in Somerville, Mass., a daughter of Burton Warner and Katharine Lucy Scribner Lewis. As a child she summered at Five Islands. Pat graduated from Newton High School in 1932. She studied music and education and graduated in 1935, from the University of Massachusetts. From there she went to Boston University to study piano and violin. In 1962 Pat earned a masters degree in English literature from the University of Maine. She taught Latin, French, music, and English literature and retired from Belfast Area High School in 1973 and returned to Five Islands. Pat was a past President of the D.A.R. Colonel Dummer Sewell Chapter and was a State Officer in Music for D.A.R. She was past president of the Williams Auxiliary of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Co. and a member of the Daughters of the American Colonists. Pat was an accomplished genealogist and was able to trace her family back to John Lewis born in 1635. Pat has written two books, “A Brief Glimpse into the Past of Five Islands” and “Genealogy in General”. Pat is predeceased by a sister, Mary June Donovan in 1997. Patricia is survived by her daughters, Katharine Bates of Hampden and Mary June Smith of St. George; four grandchildren, Joseph Kivler of Hermon, Deborra Donnelly of Hollis, Thomas Kivler of Yarmouth, and Lyn Bass of Rockland; seven great-grandchildren, one niece and two nephews. She will be sadly missed by her children and grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 12:30 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2005, at Five Islands Baptist Church with a reception following at the church.
