MARSHFIELD – Patrick K. Flaherty, 56, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, after a brief illness with brain cancer. He was born March 11, 1950, in Machias, the son of Kenneth and Muriel Flaherty. Pat graduated from Machias Memorial High School in 1968. Patrick served his country as a hospital man first class, combat corpsman, in the Navy from March 1970 to the time he retired, June 30, 1990. Patrick enjoyed the outdoors and spending time at camp with his grandchildren. His father, Kenneth Flaherty; his grandparents, Maurice and Hazel Foss and Earl and Ruth Flaherty; and his uncle, Roger Flaherty, predeceased him. He is survived by his mother, Muriel Flaherty; one brother, Mike Flaherty and family; one sister, Kathy Smith and family; a daughter, Sara Bridges and her husband, Jeremy; three grandchildren, Tevin, Camdyn and Jaden; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. His very special friends, Bonnie and Paul Foster, Ed and Lou Reed, Vanessa and Loretta, Lester and Ruth Carter, Jim Hickey and family, and Shawn Bagley and Lilla Flaherty, also survive him. The family will receive visitors and friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 6 Cooper St., Machias. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at the Machias Valley Baptist Church with Pastor George Woodward and Pastor George Henderson officiating. www.bragdonkelley.com
