HAMPDEN and BANGOR – Paul E. “Dig” “Rink” Morrill, 77, beloved and devoted husband of 55 years to Jeannette (Averill) Morrill, died peacefully March 25, 2006, at a Bangor hospital, with his family and friends by his side, after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 2, 1929 in Bangor, the son of Paul E. Morrill and Ruth A. (Lacy) Morrill Losier. Dig attended Bangor schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II. Rink was a member of the Local No. 340 Teamsters trucking industry for 32 years. He later worked as a custodian for the Brewer and Bangor school departments for 10 years. Dig was a member of Mystic Masonic Lodge No. 65 of Hampden. He lived in Bangor, moved to Hampden, then back to Bangor and attended St. Matthews and St. Mary’s Catholic Churches. Dig was a hard-worker, was proud and had a heck of a sense of humor. He loved animals of all kind. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather to a son, Steve Morrill and his special friend, Susan Wellman, of Bangor; a daughter, Karen Goodell and her husband, Charlie, of Brewer; grandchildren, Lyndsey Battles and her husband, Roger, of San Antonio, Texas, Ben Ellis of Dallas Texas, and Summer Goodell of Portland. Dig was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Christopher Morrill and Walter “Lu” Morrill. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers at EMMC for their wonderful care of Dig. Private services will be held at a later date.
