FORT FAIRFIELD – Margaret J. “Peg” Orser, 86, wife of the late Philip W. Orser, died Saturday morning, March 25, 2006, at a Caribou nursing facility, after a brief illness. She was born Jan. 12, 1920, at Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Howells L. and Elizabeth B. (Malcolm) Stewert. She graduated from Fort Fairfield High School in 1937. Peg was married to Philip W. Orser May 14, 1938, and was a member of the United Parish Church, Fort Fairfield. She was employed as a pharmacy technician in Fort Fairfield for 24 years. She was a member of the board of trustees and president of the Francis M. Malcolm Science Center, Easton since it began operation in 1983. Peg was an avid bird watcher, reader and sports enthusiast and possessed a great love of daily crossword puzzles. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who provided a guiding light for her family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Orser was predeceased by her husband, Philip June 8, 2001; one sister, Catherine Joyce Tucker; and one son-in-law, Dr. John Roberts. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James S. and Elizabeth Orser of Cumberland; five daughters, Judith A. Currie and her husband, Roger, of Reading, Mass., Sharon O. Bubar and her husband, George, of Lisbon, Carolyn L. Roberts of Littleton, Colo., Jill A. Shaw and her husband, Robert, of Caribou, Cathy J. Orser of Richmond; one sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth A. and Robert Cross of Vancouver, Wash.; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Peg’s wishes, there will be no service at this time. A graveside service of committal will be held at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield at a date and time to be announced, later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Orser to the Francis M. Malcolm Institute, P.O. Box 186, Easton, ME 04740 or the Fort Fairfield Alumni Association, P.O. Box 201, Fort Fairfield, ME 04742. Arrangements are in the care of the Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.
