BANGOR – Paul Edward Young, 77, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Dec. 3, 2007, at his home. He was born July 20, 1930, in Bangor, son of John Edward and Mary Leota (Culbert) Young. Paul graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1949, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954 on the USS Oriskany. He was a second-generation owner of Young’s Market, corner of Ohio and Court Street; served on the Board of Associated Grocers for 12 years and was a member of the Bangor Jaycee’s for many years. Paul was predeceased by his wife of 34 years, Gloria (St. Peter) Young, in 1988; his parents; a brother, Lawrence Young; and two sisters, Gloria (Young) Carson and Margaret (Young) Carrol. Surviving are his fianc?e and companion of 15 years, Sandra Stover of Bangor; a daughter, Sheryl (Young) Russell and husband, Steve, of Springvale; a son, Michael Young of Hermon; grandson, Andrew Young of Bangor; granddaughter, Amanda Young of Hermon; Sandy’s children, Lee, Glenn and Mark Stover; three nieces, one nephew and many dear, close friends. The family thanks Laurie McPhearson, a kind, compassionate care giver. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ohio Street, Bangor. Entombment will be at the Garden Mausoleum, Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the funeral Mass Thursday at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor.
