DANFORTH and HOULTON – Paul G. Smith, 98, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Oct. 15, 2003. He was born Feb. 28, 1905, at Kentville, Nova Scotia, Canada, the son of Timothy S. and Rachel (Hiltz) Smith. Paul was a barrell maker on Prince Edward Island until he moved to the United States in the 1920s where he started working in the woods and continued to make barrels until 1980. He was a member of the Danforth Apostolic Church. He is survived by his daughter, Dolly Sixberry and her husband, Vernon, of Houlton; his son, Paul Smith and his wife, Doreen, of Cary Plantation; his adopted children, Timothy Smith of Massachusetts, Lucy Ann Getchell of New Hampshire; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, which he adored greatly; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Gertrude (York) Smith; an adopted son, Fred Smith; and eight brothers and sisters. Friends may call from 12 noon until the time of service at 1 p.m. Saturday, at the Houlton United Pentecostal Church with his grandson the Rev. Vernon Sixberry Jr. officiating.
