BANGOR – Paul MacKinnon, 71, died June 1, 2007, surrounded by his wife and the caring staff, at a Bangor hospital. He was born June 15, 1935, in Lynn, Mass., the son of the late Dennis MacKinnon and Mary (Purcell) MacKinnon. Paul attended schools and grew up in Lynn, Mass. He served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps, from which he received an honorable discharge. Paul worked in the home building industry, and later, in the field of auto body repair. A family move was made to Maine in 1977. Paul derived a great deal of enjoyment from playing golf at Pine Hill, Brewer. He was given the nickname of, “Paul Who.” He will be especially missed by his best friend and golf buddy, Gary McClure. Known for his great sense of humor, he always woke up in the morning in a good mood. His yard and flower gardens were a source of pride and pleasure for him, and he had the finest manicured lawn on the street. A great neighbor and a wonderful man, he was always ready and willing to help. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 38 years, Nedra (Nash) MacKinnon, who extends special thanks to the staff in the coronary care unit at St. Joseph Hospital. Paul is also survived by a sister, Mary (MacKinnon) Forster of Lynnfield, Mass.; and six nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Claire (MacKinnon) Horgan. Relatives and friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Robert T.
