BEALS – Paul R. Beal, 75, died unexpectedly April 29, 2004, at a Machias hospital. He was born Feb. 15, 1929, at Beals, the son of Uriah H. and Thelma L. (Dunning) Beal. Paul graduated from Beals High School, Class of 1947 and Washington State Normal School, Class of 1951. He played sports at both schools and enjoyed watching sports. He was a member of the Jonesport Lodge No. 188 AF & AM. He worked with his father, Uriah buying lobsters and running the ferry between Beals and Jonesport, and he lobsterfished most of his life. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Frances (Daggett) Beal; sons, Randy Beal and wife, Brenda, of Harrington, Kevin Beal and wife, Lori, of Beals; daughter, Maria Grolimund and husband, Ernie, of Waterville; grandchildren, Paul and Patrick Beal of Waltham, Mass., and Kendrick Beal of Columbia, Blake and Blane Beal of Beals, Jennifer Grolimund of Waterville, Larry, Jonathan and Katrina Fickett of Harrington; brothers, Stanley Beal and wife, Alverda, Elliott Beal and wife, Danita, Merle Beal and wife, Regina, all of Beals; and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to visit with the family 12-1:30 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2004, at the Beals Wesleyan Church. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery, Jonesport. Arrangements are in the care of Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Machias.
