ORLEANS, Mass. – Paul William Cropper, 61, passed away peacefully at home in Orleans, Mass., on Monday, June 29, 2004, with members of his family at his side. Paul was born Sept. 3, 1942, in Boston, Mass., to Elbert H. and Bernice (Carpenter) Cropper. Paul served in the U.S. Naval Reserves from 1964 to 1967, then worked as a self-employed carpenter for 20 years before retiring to Houlton in 1987 to take up a new hobby, farming, taking care of a small farm for 13 years. Four years ago, Paul, his wife, Lynne, and Lynne’s mother, Ida, moved to Orleans, Mass. During his time in Orleans, Paul enjoyed fishing, sunsets at Rock Harbor, and visiting with friends at the local coffee shop. Paul is survived by his wife of 39 years, Lynne; daughter, Kelly (Cropper) McPherson and her husband, Brian, of Natick, Mass.; and son, Paul Cropper Jr. and his wife, Sarah, of Coppel Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Diane and David Snow of Ocala, Fla.; his sister-in-law, Ann Hoyt of Eastham, Mass.; six grandchildren; and a niece. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2004 at the Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, Mass., where funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2004.
