OLD TOWN and MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – Paula M. Jones, 80, passed away March 25, 2005, at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, Calif. She was born in Tomaszow-Lublin, Poland on March 23, 1925, the daughter of Wadislaw and Antonina (Szepaniuk) Malec. In 1939, during the invasion of Poland, she was taken to Germany by the Nazis where she worked as a servant until World War II ended. The fate of two brothers and two sisters as well as her parents was never known to her. She met her future husband, Stanley Jones, during his military service in Frankfort. In January 1950 she arrived in New York City aboard the steamship Heintzelman and resided with a host family in Michigan. She reunited with Stanley Jones and they were married in Waterville in June of 1950. She worked at the University Motor Inn, the Bangor International Airport and later retired from the University of Maine in 1987. She was predeceased in 1966 by her husband, Stanley. She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Lewis, and son-in-law, Mark, and their children Scott and Kathryn of Saratoga, Calif.; and her son, Scott Jones and daughter-in-law, Cheryl, and their children, Sara, Jenny and Matt of Milford. A graveside service will be held in June at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterville.
