BANGOR – Pauline A. Cohen, a former educator, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006. Born in Bangor, a daughter of the late Jacob and Alice Cohen. She is survived by sisters, Eunice Morris and Sylvia Shocket and was the sister of the late Ada Silverman, Nathan Cohen and Mae Karas. She also leaves niece, Robin Morris; nephews, James and Scott Morris; and great-niece, Lindsay Rose Morris, as well as several nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Pat. She also leaves her beloved poodles, Tiffany and Topaz. She had a highly respected career as an elementary school educator, and tutor of mathematics, attaining a master’s degree at Harvard University, as well as earning the distinction of Phi Beta Kappa at the University of Maine. She was a world traveler, having toured China, Japan, Spain and Israel, among other countries. She was an avid gardener, cultivating flowers, fruits and vegetables, as well as an expert in clothing design, knitting, and needlepoint. She will always be remembered for her strength, intelligence, creativity, and love for her family, and will be deeply missed. A graveside service will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at Mount Hope Cemetery. A service of Brookings-Smith, Bangor.
