LITTLETON – Wendell E. Corey, 82, went home to be with his Lord Jan. 13, 2006, in Houlton. He was born April 3, 1923, in Houlton, the son of Hazen and Rena (Scott) Corey. Wendell was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II in the Pacific aboard the USS Wilkes-Barre. His ship was anchored in Tokyo Bay, for the signing of the surrender. Upon his return from the Navy, he was employed by the B&A Railroad. In 1962, he was appointed supervisor of roadway machinery and retired in 1982, with more than 36 years with the railroad. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mildred (Carr) Corey of Littleton; four daughters, Lynn Willigar of Mars Hill, Sally and her husband, Gerald Henderson, of Littleton, Cathy and her husband, Leo Hogan, of New Limerick, Wendy and her husband, Evan Lewis, of Littleton; one son-in-law, Ronald Dee Jr. of New Jersey; 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one brother, Reginald and his wife, Diane Corey; one sister, Maxine Corey, all of Littleton. He was predeceased by four of his children, Corrinne Carol, Stephen Paul, Andrew Brooks Corey, Heather (Corey) Dee; a son-in-law, Clayton Willigar Sr.; one sister, Arlene (Estabrook) Henderson. Friends called 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, at the Littleton Full Gospel Assembly Church, where funeral services were held 3 p.m., with the Rev. Robert Ganglfinger, officiating. A spring interment will be held in the Littleton Cemetery.
