MILFORD – Pauline E. Mayhew, 88, passed away early Tuesday July 12, 2005, at an Orono nursing facility. She was born May 25, 1917, in Old Town, daughter of the late Frank and Florence (Mottram) Mayhew. Pauline graduated from Old Town High School, Class of 1935. She was a graduate of New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston in 1939. Pauline was employed at the Lahey Clinic in Boston for 35 years retiring in November of 1980. She is survived and will be sadly missed by her sister, Sherbie Mayhew of Milford; sister-in-law, Joyce Mayhew of Millinocket; two nieces, Ruth Ann (Mayhew) Morrow of Millinocket and Barbara (Couper) O’Connell of Buxton; two nephews, John Mayhew of Hampstead, N.H., and Frank Couper of Annapolis, Md.; great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her sister, Mabel (Mayhew) Couper; and brother, Walter Mayhew. A memorial service will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, with the Rev. Patricia Moore, officiating. Family and friends are invited to the First Congregational Church of Milford immediately following the service for refreshments and continued fellowship. Committal will be held 1 p.m. at Lawndale Cemetery in Old Town, following the luncheon.
