ORONO – Pauline G. Lucas died peacefully Feb. 28, 2005, surrounded by her family at Westgate Manor. She was born Nov. 13, 1919, the daughter of the late Albina (Guitard) and Frank X. Gallant. She attended Old Town schools. Pauline enjoyed being a homemaker and mother. As her children grew and left home she worked at the Sub Shop in Orono. Later she worked as a housekeeper for the priest at St. Mary’s Rectory in Bangor. She enjoyed gardening, camping, walking, taking trips, bingo, and cards. She was a member of the Orono Daughters of Isabella. Pauline was predeceased by her husband, Walter F. Lucas; son, Paul A. Lucas; daughter, Nancy A. Lucas; granddaughter, Dodie E. Hoxie; sisters, Martina Spinney, Rita Harrison, Mildred Moore, and Joann Price; brothers, Johnny Gallant, and Nelson Gallant. Pauline is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Violette of Orono; brother, Clement and wife, Mary Gallant, of Milford; sister, Hazel and Frank Corriveau of Howland. “Thank you, Aunt Hazel, for all your faithful trips to Westgate to bring Mom love and support.” Pauline is also survived by her daughters, Jean and husband, Jerry Hoxie, of Bangor, Bonnie and Harley Crabtree, of Arvada, Colo., and Susan Ashlock of Orono; daughter-in-law, Mary E. Libby-Lucas of Tuscon, Ariz.; grandchildren, Scott and Theresa Boulier, Tammy and Deron Shiley, Denise and Dave Young, Mark and Terry Hoxie, Jeff and Kristi Hoxie, Kim Hoxie, Jaime and Philip Proctor, Deana Detwiler, Jason and Tisha Crabtree, Holly and Jason Hepp and Andrew Lucas; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Jared, Adam, Spencer, Madelynne, Domenick, Dylan, Dakota, Jonathan, Amber, Alysia, Dravyn, and Kyle. Pauline was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 3, at Brookings-Smith, LaBeau Chapel, 72 Main St., Orono. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 2 p.m. Friday, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Koury, pastor, celebrant. A graveside service at Riverside Cemetery, Orono will be announced in the spring. Pauline’s family would like to thank Westgate Manor for all the love and care they gave her, and the Daughters of Isabella for the food baskets which she enjoyed.
