BELFAST – Pauline Mae (Phinney) Thomas, 82, who was born Oct. 18, 1922, in Freedom, passed away in Belfast. Her loving family was at her bedside. She was married for 68 years to Clayton who awaits her arrival having gone before her on Dec. 9, 2004. Pauline was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxillary. She also worked as a ward clerk in Belfast for 50 years. Pauline took time to get to know and love all of the people in her life. This included friends both in Maine and Florida where she and her husband spent many winters. She found pleasure in giving to others. She always remembered others on their birthdays and special occasions. She made quilts sewed by hand for family members. She also collected antique dishes, lamps and knick-knacks and enjoyed being surrounded by them in her home. She had a kind and giving heart and she will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Pauline is survived by two sons, Leroy and his companion, Mary, and Donald and his wife, Elaine; two sisters, Colleen and Cathy Taylor; six grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her granddogs Sadie and Zoe. Pauline loved flowers, so please feel free to send them. Those wanting to do so can contribute to their favorite charity. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at the Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave, Belfast, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday with Fr. Kent Tarpley officiating. Interment will follow at the Grove Cemetery, Belfast.
