SIDNEY – Pauline “Polly” D. Campbell, 84, of West River Road, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta, after a long illness. She was born April 7, 1922, in Lee, the daughter of Francis and Alice (Worster) Harvey. She attended schools in Howland and was quite an acrobat during those school years. She was a very sociable young lady and had many friends. Polly married Russell W. Campbell in October 1940, and they had two sons, Gary and Ron. They resided in Lincoln, Rumford, and moved to Augusta in 1957. While in Augusta, Polly was the bookkeeper for her husband, who operated Campbell’s Amoco gas station for many years, and after that, worked for State Street News. Polly was a family oriented lady who loved spending time with her family and entertaining. Her great love was cooking and she was one of the best when it came to preparing a good meal. She was also an avid card player and enjoyed her many visits to dine at the Red Barn Restaurant with family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell, in 1990; a son, Gary, in 2004; her sisters, Frances, Marjorie, and Juanita; and her brothers, Dale, Eben, Richard, and Harlan. She is survived by her son, Ron and his wife, Donna, of Augusta; sister, Shirley Burgess and her husband, Richard, of Sidney; a brother, Delmont Harvey and his wife, Sandra, of Lakeville; a daughter-in-law, Susanne (Campbell) Page of Augusta; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visiting will be held 10-11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, One Church Street, Augusta, where a funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be at Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.
