FORT FAIRFIELD – Philip J. “Bud” Nelson, 70, died unexpectedly Sunday, April 8, 2007, at a Presque Isle health care facility. He was born April 4, 1937, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Frank A. and Mary R. (Rochford) Nelson. Philip attended Fort Fairfield schools and was a communicant of St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield. In addition to his parents, Mr. Nelson was predeceased by one brother, Lawrence. He is survived by two sisters, Marion Reed of Fort Fairfield and Marjorie Smith and her husband, Gary, of Portland; four brothers, Ralph, John and Kenneth “Pat” Nelson, all of Fort Fairfield and Peter Nelson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Philip’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, April 12, at St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main St., Fort Fairfield with the Rev. L. Chanel Cyr, celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Nelson to the Central Aroostook Humane Society, 26 Cross St., Presque Isle, ME 04769. Envelopes will be available at the church.
