MARS HILL – Philip N. Bell, 74, died Jan. 3, 2004, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born July 19, 1929, in Mars Hill, the son of Clarence D. and Edith (Bragdon) Bell. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the William Cousins Post No. 118 American Legion in Mars Hill. Mr. Bell was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling. He is survived by his son, Bruce Bell and his wife, Tina, of Raymond; grandchildren, Emily and Marcela; one great-grandchild; brother, Wendell Bell and his wife, Marilyn, of Mars Hill; and a sister, Ruth Smith and her husband, Alton of Blaine; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Rose M. (Pina) Bell; a brother, Clinton Bell. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill, with the Rev. Richard Bell officiating. Relatives and friends may call from 12 noon until time of service. A military committal service will be held at Kings Grove in the spring.
