ORRINGTON – Philip N. Price, 76, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007. A lifelong actor, director, set designer and lover of things theatrical, Philip was involved with theater from the time he was six months old until he was 76. Before moving to Maine he acted in small playhouses in New Hampshire, Nantucket, Mass., Pennsylvania and off-Broadway in New York. Once settled in Maine, he began a long career in local theater, acting with the Belfast Maskers from their early years until May of this year, as well as performing with the Penobscot Theater, Winterport Open Stage, The Playhouse and The Grand, Ellsworth. Among his many accomplishments, he was especially proud of having played a judge on an episode of “Law & Order,” acting in several independent films and having been a five-day undefeated champion on “Jeopardy!” Philip was a passionate boat builder, sailor and student of naval history, translating that passion into a deep dedication and commitment to the work he did at Bluejacket Ship Crafters, Searsport. Family and friends fondly remember his love of the English language, especially its many eccentricities, and his witty writing and poetry. His dry sense of humor and sharp wit has kept us all entertained and amused through the years. A jack-of-all-trades in the true sense of the words, we also remember him as a sheep farmer, househusband, craftsman, writer, pundit and as a man who could answer any question without fail, even if the answer was invented. Philip is survived by his children, Anna Price-Meader, Nevin Price-Meader, Jennifer Diemand, Todd Price and Christopher Price; his sister and brothers-in-law, Amari Meader, Jon Erickson and Louie Meader; niece and nephew, Kyle Erickson and Owen Erickson; many grandchildren; and close family friends, Suzy Warner, Cassy Warner and Chelsea Bowers. As per Philip’s wishes, his ashes will be scattered in Port, Ireland, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Belfast Maskers, P.O. Box 1017, Belfast, ME 04915 or The Myelodysplastic Syndromes Foundation at MDS Foundation, P.O. Box 353, 36 Front St., Crosswicks, NJ 08515.
