BANGOR – Phillip “Phil” H. Osborne, 74, passed away peacefully Monday, June 30, 2008, at his home, after a very courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born June 23, 1934, the son of Tom W. Osborne Sr. and Virgie (Phillips) Osborne of Pennington Gap, Va. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Air Force and the Air National Guard as a refrigeration mechanic. Phil was stationed at Dow Air Force Base, Bangor, when he met and married his wife, Carlene (Lane) Osborne of Bangor. Phil worked in the Bangor area as a refrigeration and air conditioning technician for such companies as Arctic Refrigerations, R.M. Flagg Co., and Thayer Corp., and Phil was self-employed for a short time as well. Phil loved to play sports with his children and also played for many years in the softball leagues in Bangor. Phil is survived by his loving and courageous wife of 49 years, Carlene; sons, Phillip “Butch” H. Osborne Jr. and his wife, Vicki, of Bucksport, Jeffrey T. Osborne and his wife, Karen, of Winterport, Michael A. Osborne and his wife, Juliette, of Bangor; daughter, Melissa M. Kneeland and husband, Adam, of Brewer; siblings, Tom W. Osborne Jr. of Tennessee and Bobby Osborne of Virginia; grandchildren, Jamie, Kayle, Meaghan, Nicolas, William, Braydon, Kade, Gwendolyn and Isaac; and his only great-grandchild, Samantha. He was predeceased by his parents; and grandson, Mathew “Matty.” A special thanks to a loving brother-in-law, Tony and his wife, Marisa Lane, for all the special help they have provided to Phil and Carlene throughout the years. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with Pastor Ron Morris, senior pastor of Glad Tidings Church, officiating.
