CORINNA – Phyllis A. Young, 83, died Nov. 9, 2006, at the Dexter Health Care Facility, after a period of ill health. She was born April 1, 1923, in Mars Hill, the daughter of William M. and Etta Currier Jones. She was educated in schools of Mars Hill and Stetson. She married Charles E. Young Oct. 30, 1941, in Newport. For many years, she attended the Stetson Union Church and was the oldest member. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, the Literary Guild, and the American Legion Auxiliary, all of Corinna. She was also a member of the Sebasticook Snowmobile Club, Newport; the Paul Bunyon RV Trail Club, Bangor; and a former member of the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charles E. Young of Corinna; one son and his wife, Charles Gene and Lucia Young of Belleville Ill.; one brother, Frederick Jones of Cumberland; three granddaughters, Antje, Stephanie and Melanie; five great-grandchildren, Donald, Sidney, Brooke, Nicholas and Thomas; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by four brothers, William Jones, Glenn Jones, Gordon Jones and Peter Jones. Memorial services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport, with the Rev. George Finnemore officiating.
