ELLSWORTH – Phyllis B. Ashe, 87, died Thursday, April 15, 2004, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth. She was born May 27, 1916, in Franklin, the daughter of Jotham and Lorene (Ryder) Buzzell. Phyllis was a graduate of Franklin High School. She was employed at Britt’s Department Store for several years. She was past president and life member of the Ladies Aux. Post 109 in Ellsworth. She was a lifelong member of the grange, including Bayside Grange No. 476 in Ellsworth, State, and National Granges. Phyllis will be remembered by her devotion to her family and her cooking and sewing abilities. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Palmer and her husband, Dick, of Eastbrook; her son, Ritchie Ashe, and his companion, Cheryl, of Ellsworth; a special sister-in-law, Annabelle Buzzell of Ellsworth; a brother, Ralph Buzzell and his wife, Harriet, of Gardiner; six grandchildren, Ritchie Ashe of New Glouster, Theresa Ashe of Alabama, Lisa Hutchins of Milbridge, Laura Colby of Gouldsboro, Ricky Palmer of Winterport, and Adam Palmer of Eastbrook; eight great-grandchildren, Ricky and Natasha of Winterport, A.J. of Eastbrook, Elaine of Milbridge, Rachel of Gouldsboro, Stacee and Leah of New Glouster, and Dylan of Bath; and she was anxiously awaiting the birth of a great-grandson, Will; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Ashe Sr., in 1992; her siblings, Jotham, Milton, Leroy and Geraldine. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, April 19, with the Rev. Bob Maddocks officiating. Interment will be at Bayview Cemetery in Franklin. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Baptist Church, 38 Pine St., Ellsworth, ME 04605.
