BANGOR – Phyllis Elaine (Rose) Wetmore, 77, died Jan. 27, 2005, at a local healthcare center after a long courageous battle with cancer, COPD and diabetes. She was born Jan. 23, 1928, in Bangor, the daughter of Harold E. and Evelyn A. (Shaw) Rose. Phyllis attended Bangor schools, was employed by local shoe factories and retired after more than 20 years with the base exchange. She was a troop commissioner and an active volunteer for the Katahdin Area Council Boy Scouts of America at Camp Roosevelt. Phyllis, her husband Clifford and their children traveled extensively while he was on active duty with the military. Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Clifford Douglas Wetmore II of Bangor; one daughter, Doris “Kathy” Trask and her husband, Robert Sr., of Bangor; two sons, C. Douglas Wetmore III, Kenneth D. Wetmore and his wife, Pat, all of New York; seven grandchildren, Robert II, James, Frankie, Douglas III, Shauna, Kiley and Kypp; nine great-grandchildren, one sister, Winifred Bostock of Bangor; one brother, Roland Rose and his wife, Wendy, of Eddington; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Michelle Elaine Wetmore. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Clayton Blackstone, pastor of the Advent Christian Church of Bangor, officiating. Interment will be in the Mane Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.
