HOULTON – Phyllis H. Worthley peacefully left her loving family to be with her Lord June 10, 2007. She was born Sept. 2, 1922, in Ludlow, the daughter of Leonard Horten and Etta (Holmes) Horten. Phyllis was a lifetime member of the Houlton Full Gospel Assembly. She worked many years for the A&P Grocery Store before opening her own grocery store with co-owners, Ray and Ruth Crone, Brian Bell and John McGary. Later she worked for Catholic Charities of Maine, as a homemaker and parenting aide, where she enjoyed making many new friendships. Phyllis, in her earlier years, loved snow sledding, shopping and running the roads with her many friends, and in later years spent many a night playing cards and games, and visiting with her friends and family. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Burchard H. Worthley. She is survived by her two sons, Ronald H. Worthley and fianc?e, Frieda Bither and Dana A. Worthey; her daughters-in-law, Louise M. Worthley and Ruth E. Worthley; seven grandchildren, Cathie and her husband, James Hemingway, Lorie and her husband, Randy Schools, Chantelle and her husband, Ralph Holmes, Darcy and her fianc?, Lee Oliver, Julie and her husband, Kevin Winslow, Jon Worthley and his wife, Jana, and Andrew Worthley and his friend, Katie Burke; 13 great-grandchildren, Ryan and his wife, Alyssa Schools, Isaac Schools, Joseph Britton, Jordan, Sara and Jessica Hemingway, Ben and Kailey Holmes, Olivia, Cole and Austin Winslow, Jacob and Abigail Worthley; and her nieces, nephews and their families in Saco. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dunn Funeral Home. A remembrance service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Houlton Full Gospel Assembly with James R. Briggs officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Gifts may be made in her memory to Greater Houlton Christian Academy or the Houlton Humane Society.
