BUCKSPORT – Phyllis Copp, 65, passed away quietly April 2, 2008, surrounded by family at home from lung cancer. Her husband, Edward “Casey” Copp predeceased her. Phyllis was the daughter of Audrey (Nelson) and Theodore Burbank. Phyllis was born March 12, 1943, in Boston, and spent her youth and early life in Dorchester, Mass. As a child and young adult, Phyllis loved nothing better than to visit her grandmother during the summer in Bucksport. She graduated from Jamaica Plain High School and went to work for The Jimmy Fund, doing cancer research. Phyllis married Casey and their family spent summers in Bucksport camping, fishing and hiking. The family finally moved to Bucksport fulltime in 1975. Phyllis had many jobs throughout the years as a waitress in local restaurants, a clerk in a local store, and her favorite, a home health care worker helping individuals be able to stay in their own homes. It was important to Phyllis to be able to help people. Phyllis enjoyed traveling, spending time outside in her garden, going to concerts, enjoying the coast of Maine and spending time with family and friends. The time Phyllis spent with her grandchildren was especially treasured. She leaves behind her children, Debra Bouchard and her husband, Joseph, of Arundel, along with their children, Elizabeth and David, Doreen Campbell and her husband, Michael, of Maryland, along with their children, Eric and Ryan, Michael Copp of Bucksport and Kevin Copp and April Colby of Bucksport, along with their daughter, Kaci. She also leaves her mother, Audrey Johnson of Bucksport; siblings, Ted Burbank and his wife, Lou, of Massachusetts, Bob Burbank and his wife, Marcia, of Bucksport, Al Johnson and his wife, Diane, of Wyoming, Christine Reilly and her husband, Ron, of Massachusetts, Paulette Sawyer and her husband, Bob, of Bucksport and Frank Johnson of Bucksport; many nieces, nephews and cherished lifelong friends. Visitation for family and friends will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Mitchell Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the school age program at Morrison Development Center, care of Gwen Sartoris, 331 Veranda St., Portland, ME 04103.
