BRADLEY – Polly Elizabeth Buck, 52, passed away Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at a Bangor nursing facility surrounded by her family following a courageous battle of 18 years with cancer. She was born Aug. 10, 1952, in Gardiner, the daughter of Claude “Sonny” and Diana Mae (Peters) Hutchings. Polly had resided in Gardiner, Lincoln, Carroll Plantation, Passadumkeag and most recently Bradley. She had touched and enriched many people of these areas with her strong, caring and giving personality. Polly worked for the State of Maine DOT as the first women foreman, for 10 years before retiring due to her illness. Over the past 30 years she has been a truck and bus driver. Polly was an active member of the 4H, the American Rabbit Breeders Assoc., and the Old Town Kiwanis for the last few years including this year in the toy barn at their local auction. Polly was an avid animal lover and also enjoyed gardening. Her favorite pastime was going to auctions with her husband. Polly is survived and will be sadly missed by her beloved husband of 12 years, Edward V. “Bucky” Buck Jr. of Bradley; four daughters, Marie Trojecki and her husband, Dan, of Hudson, Bonnie Hatch and her husband, Cory, of Howland, Lorraine “Rainy” Langley of Porter, Heidi Sanborn and her husband, Mike, of Glenburn; one son, Blake A. Langley of Glenburn; mother, Diana Mae (Peters) Hutchings and her companion, Russ Libby, of Pittston; three sisters, Angel Bittues and her husband, Arno, of Winthrop, Marvel Hutchings and her friend, Basil Barnes, of Albion, Berta Estes and her husband, Terry, of Winslow; three brothers, Claude Dana Hutchings and his wife, Mindy, of Gray, Ross Peter Hutchings and his wife, Sandy, of Augusta, Richard Conrad Hutchings and his wife, Anne, of Gardiner; nine grandchildren, Alan and Chanel Watson, Karissa Hatch, Cathy, Daniel and Josie Trojecki, Brandon Nadeau, Cody and Nicholas Beal; many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; step-children, Kathy Nadeau and her husband, Peter, of Bradley, Mike and Lisa Buck of Bradley, Joanne Beal and her husband, Randy, of Bradley. She was predeceased by her father, Claude “Sonny” Hutchings; and a stepson, Brian Buck. At Polly’s request, graveside services at the Evergreen Cemetery in Bradley will be private for family.
