WEST FAIRLEE, Vt. – Priscilla Marie (Roy) Dionne, formerly of Old Town, Bangor and Skowhegan, passed away May 4, 2008, surrounded by her family, at her residence. She was born Aug. 8, 1911, in Old Town, the daughter of the late William and Annie (Roy) Roy of Old Town. Priscilla attended St. Joseph’s School, and then began her long employment history that stretched more than 50 plus years and four New England states. She was wife of the late Wilfred J. Dionne, who passed away in February 1989 just prior to their 49th anniversary. They were married at St. Joseph’s Church, Old Town, Sept. 2, 1940. Priscilla was the last surviving member from this generation of the Roy family. Throughout the years, she had enjoyed sharing countless memories of growing up in their home on Water Street. She was born into a family of eight girls and one boy. One sister and their only brother died at birth. Priscilla began her employment at a very young age. During her 16th summer, she worked as a housekeeper at one of the famous summer cottages in Northeast Harbor on Mount Desert Island. She also worked as a blade inspector for The Gillette Co., Massachusetts, and a housekeeper, personal maid and governess for many years. Priscilla and her husband, Wilfred “Bill” Dionne became well known and respected proprietors in the hotel/motel industry. They owned and operated the landmark, Skowhegan House, Skowhegan for many years. Bill and Priscilla adopted their only daughter, Irene, in January 1955. They sold the Skowhegan House in 1956 and purchased a home on Dyer Street. Every spring the Dionne’s would pack up and relocate from their home on Dyer Street to their seasonal residence at Lakeland Motel.
