BURNHAM – Ronald Ervine Trafton, 80, died Monday, May 12, 2008, from complications after having heart trouble, at Maine Medical Center. He was born July 7, 1927, in Caribou, and was raised in Riley Brook, New Brunswick. Ron worked at farming, logging and sports camps, until coming to the U.S. in 1946. He worked at Winchester Repeating Arms, Connecticut; was a machinist for Pratt and Whitney, Connecticut, and for Keyes Fibre, Waterville; and retired from Solon Manufacturing, Skowhegan. Ron loved hunting, fishing and woodworking, and enjoyed working in his garden. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Maxine; three sons, Frank Trafton and his companion, Don Carpenter, of Newport, Larry Trafton and his wife, Barbara, of Biloxi, Miss., and Wayne Trafton and his wife, Tara, of Burnham; two daughters, Wanda Trafton and friend, George Holyoke, of Brewer, and Wendy Warren and friend, Dennis Kilgore, of Winslow; a special nephew, Doug Trafton, of Georgetown, Ontario; a special niece, Eva Cote, of Riley Brook, New Brunswick; special friends, Vinal and Sharon Lawrence of Knoxford, New Brunswick; “where’s my little one?” special granddaughter, Riley Trafton; grandsons, Bob Trafton of California and Tom Trafton of Mississippi; one great-granddaughter, one great-grandson; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Goodwin and husband, Dick, of Clinton, Darlene Vaughn and husband, Sterling, of Burnham, Arlene Meservey of Plymouth, Carla Merservey and husband, Sam, of Bangor; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his son, Ronald; his first wife, Anna Wiecenski; four sisters and five brothers. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 15, at the funeral home.
