ORLAND – Russell E. Tennant, 73, died Monday, May 12, 2008, at a Bangor hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born April 13, 1935, in Orland, the son of William E. and Vera E (Conary) Tennant. Russell worked as a crane operator and retired from Champion International Paper Co. in 1995, after many years of service. He was a gentleman farmer enjoying the time he spent on his farm caring for his Belgian horses, by his side was his faithful canine companion, Heidi. He is survived by his long time companion, Judy White; his daughter, Gail Lord and her companion, Norm Clement, of Orland; three grandchildren; his extended family, Brian Sanborn and Dan Sanborn, as well as their families. In addition to his parents, Russell was predeceased by two children, Gary Tennant and Vicky Tennant; as well as one sister, Maxine Sweet. The family thanks Hancock County Homecare Hospice, and especially Nan Grant, for their kind and compassionate care of Russell. Family and friends will gather for visitation 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, May 14, at the funeral home with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Burial will be after the service at Oak Grove Cemetery, Orland.
