SMYRNA MILLS and BARRANQUILLA, Columbia, South America – Prudy (Hersey) Pedraza died unexpectedly April 12, 2008, after many years of service as a missionary. She was born July 3, 1947, to the late Ernest and Jennie (Stevens) Hersey. After graduating from Zion Bible Institute in 1968, Prudy followed the calling of the Lord and left for the mission field to South America. She remained there doing his service until the time of her death. She is survived by her husband, Rosendo; three children, Carolyn, Joaquin and Natalie; three grandchildren; two sisters, Leah and her husband, William Pier Jr., of Whiteville, N.C., and Carolyn and her husband, Bruce Griffiths, of Eddington; and two sisters-in-law, Wendy Robinson of Ashland and Kathy Hersey of Israel. Prudy was predeceased by her parents; stepdad, Otis Delong; and two brothers, Ira and Timothy Hersey. The family invites you to a combined memorial service 2 p.m. June 2, for Prudy and her younger brother, Timothy, who passed away Oct. 17, 2007, at Bethel Pentecostal Church, Smyrna Mills, with the Rev. Sterling Lawrence officiating.
