ORONO and BALTIMORE Robert F. Voelker, 76, husband of the late Alice (Perkins) Voelker, died June 16, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 24, 1932, in Baltimore, the son of Edward and Florence (Geelhaar) Voelker. Robert attended Loyola High School, Baltimore, and then joined the U.S. Air Force at an early age, serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He worked as a radio operator and a boom operator. He retired after 20 years as a Master Sergeant. He then went to work for Sears Roebuck and Co., where he worked as well, for 20 years as a service technician. He was a member of the American Legion, Orono and Orono-Old Town Kiwanis Club. Robert enjoyed being involved in the Y-Cardiac program and participating with his dear friends in the “Oatmeal Club” after their workouts. He was a very giving person and enjoyed doing things for other people. He is survived by his daughter and husband, Lisa and David Gove of Cumberland Center; two sons and their wives, Robert and Renee Voelker of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Eric and Jean Voelker of Orono; one brother and his wife, Edward and Thelma Voelker of Baltimore; grandchildren, Chantel Johnson, Shalene Johnson and Dr. Mark Bainer, Landon Voelker, Curtis Voelker, Benjamin and Christina Gove; and two great-grandchildren, Meleah and Dylan Bainer. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his daughter, Betty Lynn; one sister, Florence Dugan; and two brothers, Richard and Paul Voelker. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at Brookings-Smith, LaBeau Chapel, 72 Main St., Orono, where a ser-vice of remembrance will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 20, with the Rev. Roland Nadeau, Catholic chaplain at St. Joseph Hospital, Bangor, officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Orono.
