BROOKSVILLE – Rachel Fowler, 96, died Nov. 17, 2003, at her home. She was born July 14, 1907, in Brooksville, the daughter of Everett and Ada (Wescott) Bowden. She was affiliated with the Baptist and Methodist Churches of Brooksville. Rachel was head cook at Brooksville Elementary School for more than 25 years. She enjoyed knitting and playing her tambourine at the Penobscot Nursing Home. She was a member of Brooksville Corner Clubhouse and Hancock Pomona Grange No. 13. Rachel is survived by a son, Lloyd Fowler of Brooksville; a sister, Callie Gray of Orrington; a son-in-law, Lawrence Matthews; seven grandchildren, Ronna, Randy, Bruce, Barry, Jody, Valerie, and Julie; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence; a son, Basil; a daughter, Priscilla; and granddaughters, Karen Lea and Karen Sue. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at South Brooksville Methodist Church, with Rev. Gary Vencill officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Brooksville.
