ENGLEWOOD, Fla. – F. Claire Wright, 97, of 231 E. Wentworth St., Englewood, Fla., died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at Alterra Nursing Home in Sarasota, Fla. Mr. Wright was born May 6, 1906, in Milo, the son of Frank Palmer Wright and Lilla Harding Wright. He graduated from the University of Maine in 1930 and married Ellen Hawley Frame on Oct. 27, 1937. He taught school in Belfast and became the principal of Liberty High School. In June of 1943, he joined the Internal Revenue Service and worked in the Bangor office until moving to Ellsworth. He was later assigned to the Calais office and retired from service in 1970. He and his wife, Ellen moved to Englewood in 1972. It was recently discovered that Clair was related to four of the Mayflower families that landed at Plymouth Rock in 1620. He was predeceased by his wife, Ellen, on Sept. 21, 2002. Surviving is a son, David F. Wright and his wife, Margaret, of Boca Raton, Fla.; and a granddaughter, Lynn Ellen Wright of Lakeland, Fla. Funeral rites and burial will take place at Pinegrove Cemetery in Waterville. Farley Funeral Home, Venice, Fla., is in charge of local arrangements.
