SOUTH THOMASTON – Rachel Michelle Long, 3 years, 10 months and 7 days old, passed away peacefully Jan. 15, 2007, at Penobscot Bay Medical Center, Rockport, after living with Cerebro-Oculo-Facio-Skeletal Syndrome (COFS), an extremely rare progressive genetic disorder of which there have been approximately 50 diagnosed cases worldwide. Rachel was born March 8, 2003, in Rockport, the daughter of Michael Rey and Ronda Carrie Nystrom Long. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 150 Broadway, Rockland. The Reverends Mark Reinhardt and Arthur Pechillo will officiate. A reception will be after at the Grispi Parish Center.
