HARRINGTON – Sarah Emily (Nash) Gurney, 97, of Harrington, formerly of Brockton and Milton, Mass., died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, at the Marshall Health Care Center, Machias. Born in 1909, in Harrington, she was the daughter of a sea captain, Alonso P. and Mary (Hall) Nash. She was the sister of the late Andrew and the late Alonso. She was the widow of A. Brainard Gurney. Prior to her marriage to Mr. Gurney in 1926, she attended Westbrook Seminary, Portland. The couple eventually settled in Milton, Mass., where they had two children, David B. Gurney of Holbrook, Mass., and Harrington and Mary Hall (Gurney) Stephenson late of Portland, Ore. In addition to her son, David B. Gurney and his wife, Barbara, Sarah is survived by her grandchildren, Diane (Gurney) Pratt of Richland, Wash., Sarah (Gurney) Garcia of Holbrook, Mass., Sarah (Stephenson) Keyes of Devon, Pa., David B. Gurney Jr. of Whitman, Mass., and Leigh B. Stephenson of Houston. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren; and a cousin, Sandra Priest of Harrington. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Milbridge. Interment will be private.
